The proposed bridge project would replace an existing ferry facility on the Nome-Council Highway. This road is located on the Seward Peninsula in west-central Alaska. The 805' long bridge and a 900' long causeway would provide passage across an inlet called Safety Inlet. Two approaches to the bridge and causeway of 2400' and 1900' respectively, will tie the new facility to the existing road. The proposed bridge facility would provide positive passage across Safety Inlet with a longer period of service. Increased utilization of the land on the far side of the inlet for recreational purposes will probably be the end result. No significant adverse effects are forecast should the proposal be implemented. Displacement of people will not be necessary and the probable increase in land use on the far side of the inlet will not cause any significant detriment to the environment of the concerned area.
