Both the U. S. Air Force and FAA currently use James Brake Decelerometer to measure the runway condition and to enable the prediction of braking performance. A new method has been recently developed which also can be used to predict braking performance and uses runway condition reading as a measure of ground mu. The paper discusses both methods of predicting the braking performance. (Author)
