The manual provides instructions for installing, operating, and maintaining a protective canopy on the Galis Mfg. Co. roof drill. The primary function of the protective canopy is to protect the operator of the roof drill against roof falls. The basic configuration consists of an understructure that supports a hydraulic adjusting system which, in turn, supports and raises and lowers the canopy. The canopy has an expanded metal mesh top that prevents hazardous-size debris from falling upon the operator. Other main protective features include the roof jack that helps to maintain the roof drill in a fixed position during drilling, and controls for raising and lowering the canopy, and for raising and lowering the roof jack.
