A mix design study was conducted in order to prepare an assortment of specimens of asphalt concrete HAB 16 (maximum particle size 16 mm) for the testing of wear resistance to studded tires in a traffic simulator. This was made on Marshall specimens of systematically varied compositions and on slabs prepared by rolling mixtures obtained from the tested Marshall specimens. Series of slabs were then prepared for the traffic simulator test. The aggregate in the samples contained at least 9% filler and consisted of crushed material.
