Both for the sailing yachtsmen and for the people concerned with producing Handicap formula, it is of interest to know how much resistance is generated by the propellor of the auxiliary engine when not in use. In cooperation with the ANWB and the editorial staff of their sailing magazine 'Waterkampioen' a series of tests with four different types of propellors have been carried out in the Delft Towing Tank. The series is by no means complete and not all the parameters of interest have been investigated nor have all components of the usual shaft arrangements been tested on their resistance. This may be the aim of future experiments.
