The most effective mean for reducing CO(sub 2) emission is suggested to be a tax on automotive fuels. It is argued that the present CO(sub 2) tax in Sweden (about 0.03 USD/kg CO(sub 2)) is too low, and needs to be about four times as high to have effect on the traffic emission. This report demonstrates how a correct level of the CO(sub 2)-tax can be calculated under different premises. 15 refs
