This report describes an aircraft trajectory optimization computer program that has been used successfully at Grumman for a variety of problems over a period of years. Three airplanes are simulated: the F-14, F-15, and ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter). The trajectories are in three dimensions over a flat earth. Optimization is achieved by means of the conjugate gradient variational technique. Inequality constraints on the path and equality constraints on the final point are satisfied by penalty integrals and penalty functions, respectively. (Author)
