The purpose of this illustrated history is to put the heritage of the Air Force Communications Command into perspective as it celebrates its twentieth anniversary as a separate, major air command. This volume is not meant to be a critical, analytical account, but a narrative highlighting the growth of this command since 1938 from a simple system with 300 men operating only within the continental United States to a major air command with nearly 49,000 people, worldwide responsibilities, and a highly complex mission.
