An Otter Trawl Door is used to spread the mouth of an otter trawl. The towing warp is hooked to the towing point on the face side of the door. The Backstraps hook to the towing plate of the back side of the door. The French Polyvalent door replaces the rectangular door depicted in the last diagram. Fishermen who have used them have said that the French Polyvalent Door is lighter, smaller and spreads more than the rectangular door.
