An Otter Trawl Door is used to spread the mouth of an otter trawl. The towing warp is hooked to the towing point on the face side of the door. The backstraps hook to the towing plates of the back side of the door. The Portuguese Polyvalent door is shown with a Dan-Leno hookup commonly used on side trawlers and replaces the traditional rectangular door. It has bolt-on shoes and a flotation tank on the top. This door is smaller and spreads more than the rectangular door. It can be found on the Point Judith trawler Sandra and Cindy, which is powered by a 343 Caterpiller.
