The report summarises the results of braking tests made with an aircraft tyre to study the effect of surface texture, wheel load, tyre pressure, tread pattern and tyre wear on the skidding resistance of wet surfaces at speeds up to 100 km/h (60 mile/h). Of the various factors studied, surface texture affected braking performance to the greatest extent. It was also found that the skidding resistance of the coarse textured surfaces tested was less affected by changes in tyre conditions, such as load, pressure and wear, than the fine textured surfaces.
