In the near future, space stations of the Salyut type will be supplied automatically by unmanned Soyuz space ships to be guided from the earth and automatically coupled to the station. By this means cosmonauts staying on board a Salyut would not only be supplied with extra victuals, but also with fuel for the space station so that it can function for longer than is now the case.
