The Soviet Union's mission to rendezvous with and repair the Salyut 7 Space Station, which had gotten out of control, is described. This was the Soviets' first attempt to dock with an uncontrolled object, and some of their instruments were being used for the first time. Both the equipment and the procedures used are detailed.
