The Navy has developed many new logistics strategies for the FFG-7 class ships, which differ significantly from traditional practices in the surface Navy. It wants to reduce the number of shipboard personnel needed and increase ship availability. Questions remain, however, as to whether this will provide adequate and economical logistics support for the FFG-7s. This report raises a number of issues about the feasibility and economy of the new logistics strategies and recommends actions to improve support.
