Advanced aircraft operating in supersonic and hypersonic flight regimes will impose many environmental problems on aircraft subsystems. Fire extinguishing equipment will be required to operate efficiently over a -65F to 500F temperature range. To meet this requirement, a subscale Pyrotechnic Fire Extinguishing System was designed, developed and fire tested under simulated flight conditions. It uses bromo fluoro alkanes as extinguishing agents. (Author)
