The definition of a fine attitude measurement system was analyzed using a data from the TPD/TNO star mapper, the SODERN star tracker, and the MSDS star mapper, for Earth resources missions. Comparison of a star tracker with and without gyroscopes; mathematical models; onboard estimation of gyro drift and applications to precision attitude control; and software evaluation of Kalman filter are summarized.
