The mission of the Airworthiness Qualification Test Directorate (AQTD) (previously known as the U.S. Army Aviation Engineering Flight Activity (AEFA)) of the U.S. Army Aviation Technical Test Center, is to conduct airworthiness qualification fight tests of air vehicles developed and/or procured as integrated systems and airworthiness evaluations of those vehicles proposed or considered for Army application or which incorporate advanced concepts having potential military application; produce test data on basic air vehicle performance, handling qualities, system/subsystem interface, and integrated system performance; and conduct a test pilot orientation course to prepare Army aviators for attendance at U.S. Naval Test Pilot School.
