The report presents a historical review of analytical methods for predicting the dynamic behavior of bridges. A simplified constant force solution is presented in more detail, and calculated dynamic increments (impact factors) are given based on five standard truck configurations as applied to ten representative Maryland bridges. Comparisons of the analytical impact factors are made with results obtained from field tests, which were made with control test vehicles and random truck traffic. (BPR abstract)
