Automatic stations for studying the surface of the moon and equipment for sampling lunar soils are described. Methods and results for studying the physical and mechanical properties of the soils are presented. A method of simulating the lunar conditions is presented in examples of earth development of the self-propelled chassis of lunokhods; also, test stands and operating tests on earth are presented.
