The study reports on a plan to develop a functional system of airports in Missouri during the period 1969-1990, when it is estimated the number of aircraft in the State will increase 250 percent. Analyses show a critical shortage of State and local funds to develop aviation in Missouri and particular needs for more paved runways and scheduled air taxi passenger service. The report recommends expansion of the State's Division of Commerce and Industrial Development Aviation Section to insure better planning of facilities and closer monitoring of air carrier operations. It proposes improving 74 existing airports and development of 43 new sites for airports. (Author)
