This is Vol. 7 of a 9 volume study of approximately 200,000 California drivers. The volume depicts the relationship between accident frequency and various types of violations in terms of correlation coefficients, regression slopes and cross tables. The violation categories of speeding, sign and signals, and passing exhibited the highest correlation with accidents. However, because of differential skewness and range restriction among the violation categories, the authors caution against making generalizations about violation and accident relationships at a behavioral level.
