This Bibliography has been prepared in conjunction with the Survey and Analysis of High Speed Waterborne (HSW) Transportation Services Worldwide, a Congressionally mandated study. The primary purpose of this study is to review the current HSW transportation industry and assess the potential for its development as a commercial passenger service in the United States. Within this broad framework, specific objectives of the project have been to: (1) assess opportunities and barriers for domestic and foreign manufacturers to provide suitable advanced marine vessels in the United States; (2) suggest possible financial, tax, and institutional strategies for fostering the growth of a private sector advanced marine industry; (3) assess the potential national market or demand for high speed marine passenger transportation; (4) provide insight into how HSW transportation services can be integrated with existing modes; (5) collect and analyze data on technical, cost, and marketing characteristics of worldwide HSW services; and (6) collect and analyze data on the technical, cost, and physical attributes of advanced marine vessels.
