The report summarizes the results of a comprehensive and systematic study of 41 motor vehicle accidents that occurred in the Fayette County, Kentucky, area. The research was performed by a multidisciplinary accident investigation team at the University of Kentucky. Included are the investigation program objectives and procedures and an analysis of the collisions with conclusions and recommendations. In addition to the study of 41 local accidents the team also performed two special traffic accident investigations, one involving an air cushion restraint system and one involving a school bus. Summary reports of each collision case are appended. Portions of this document are not fully legible.
