A fast-time computer was used to evaluate the predictability and logic of microwave landing system interception procedures and to evaluate the accuracy and complexity of the algorithms for various (open versus closed loop) turn techniques with related glide path definition. A real time (Boeing 747) flight simulation was carried out to further evaluate the interception procedures and most promising turn techniques resulting from the fast-time computer simulation. Results of the evaluation of the turn techniques as implemented in different flight director systems are presented.
