A review of Soviet technical literature is reported on realizable designs for a step forward in the development of space exploration. Such a large space station could consist of a combination of solid and inflatable structural elements, assembled in orbit from structural sections of circular shape or with corners. It would be practical to rotate the station around its axis to generate an artificial gravity in the cabins and research rooms. The effect of the artificial gravity would be sufficient to allow a large number of scientists to work in such a station.
