The proposed project contemplates the extension (00') and widening (15') of existing runway, construct an asphalt parallel taxiway, install a 10in- beacon and install runway lights to the proposed 700' runway extension. The existing runway length (3,000') is inadequate for planes owned by county industries. The proposed parallel taxiway is necessary as a safety factor and will simplify entry onto or exit from runway. The proposed actions would not noticeably affect the ambient noise level for a significant number of people. The proposed acquisition of additional easement rights will not cause the displacement or relocation of any persons. The proposed improvements to the existing airport will not divide or disrupt any established community or divide existing uses. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has advised that the airport project 'will not significantly interfere with wildlife breeding or feeding grounds, and will not substantially alter the pattern of behavior of any indigenous wildlife species. The proposed improvements should not have any effect on water pollution or cause any significant increase in air pollution. The unavoidable adverse environmental effects of the extending and widening runway will be the aircraft noise imposed on those residences living in the general airport area. It is anticipated that general aviation operations will predominantly occur during the hours between sunrise and sunset.
