Stanly County proposes to request federal funds for a project to construct a new public-use airport. The initial construction will result in development of a General Utility airport adequate to accommodate all propeller driven aircraft with gross weights less than 12,500 pounds. The airport will be open on a 24-hour basis. There will be about 42 acres of tree clearing; slightly increased intermittent noise levels due to operations of single-and twin-engine propeller driven aircraft; slight increase in air pollution due to aircraft operations; and short-term, adverse environmental conditions associated with normal construction techniques.
