The report summarizes and evaluates the Intermodal Management Information System (IMIS) which was designed and implemented under the sponsorship of the Federal Railroad Administration. The purpose of the report is to evaluate the IMIS performance in comparison with its goals and to recommend enhancements that would be useful to both the FRA and the railroads in determining the system utility. This document is useful to both intermodal and data processing personnel in the industry and to governmental planners.
