Gunfire testing was conducted to determine whether a 50% voiding foam configuration for the F-15 No. 1 fuselage fuel tank can suppress fuel vapor explosions to maximum peak overpressures of less than the structural strength limitation of the tank. The resulting peak overpressures stayed well within the 15 psig limit as established by the F-15 Fuel System Design Analysis Report, MDC 0372. (Author)
