Data are given on the acceptability of exhaust noise on bridge wings due to the gaspulses of large low-speed marine diesel engines, directly coupled to a constant pitch propeller. ISO noise rating numbers are used. For full speed ahead N 75 is the upper limit of acceptability.

The background noise due to auxiliaries is not treated in detail but should be substantially less.
