This paper describes the development of a GPS/Sonar navigation system for an unmanned submarine. The system uses Differential Global Positioning System receivers, sonar data links and a radio telemetry system. Sea trials were carried out to prove the system concept and establish the target specification for an operational system. (4 pages)
