This paper discusses the impact of railway electrification systems on signalling systems. As the author has worked in the UK all his career it will focus on main line railway practice and will detail the impact of 25 kV 50 HZ overhead traction systems electrically and physically on the various signalling systems installed on the network rail network in the UK.
