In this paper, the author describes the T2-SE-Al turbo-electric tanker, of which 481 were constructed in America between 1942 and 1945. They had a nominal speed of 14 -15 knots and a deadweight tonnage of 16,613. The propulsion system comprised a two-pole, variable speed turbo-alternator supplying a large diameter motor directly coupled to the propeller via the thrust bearing. (24 pages)
