In this paper, the position estimation is done by employing a non-linear interpolation algorithm and its comparative analysis is done with respect to conventional flux linkage based 3D look up table (LU table) method. To calculate the rotor position for every value of flux-linkage and current data, the LU table based estimation approach necessitates a vast memory space and algorithms for curve fitting. The kriging interpolation algorithm formed model based on training data and estimate the real time rotor position. The data for sampling is obtained experimentally from a 8/6 configuration of SRM. The comparison between the two methodology is carried out based on their response and accuracy.
