This paper shows ways of improving the efficiency of the electric traction drive in a battery electric vehicle at partial load operation referring to electric machine and power electronics. Improved components are compared to those typically used in an electric vehicle in terms of energy efficiency. Further advantages, economic impact and optimization strategies of the newly developed components are also discussed.
