This paper provides update on the latest active and in-work IEEE standards for ships as well as ship's applicable IEC and military standards. It emphases that the knowledge of these standards as accumulated experience of generations of electrical engineers is necessary tool for every engineer to secure reliable, safe and cost effective operation of the marine vessels.
