In the rapidly flourishing nano technological run, the Network-On-Chip (NoC) architecture replaces the bus and crossbar based switches in a System-On-Chip (SoC) thereby offering an effective research solution to Integrated Circuit (IC) based real-time applications. Majority of the dissipation of power surfaces in the links which is effected by switching activity. It is necessary to reduce power dissipation in the links in order to improve the overall performance of the system. A NBEI technique for serial NoC links is proposed to reduce the switching transitions in data thereby reducing the power dissipation in the links. The NBEI technique is coded, simulated and the results are compared to other coding techniques. The obtained result shows 46.13% reduction in switching activity.
