Robots have now become necessary components in today’s differentiated globalized society because of their efficiency as well as the effectiveness of services in diverse sectors. The objective of this work is to design a robotic arm which can be easily attached on a wheelchair that can be used by disabled or paralyzed people. In spite of increasing the ability to carry out few tasks independently beyond the constraints of their disability, the robotic arm helps the disabled to better interact with the environment. The arm also makes possible things that many of the abled people do effortlessly for instance, opening doors, or controlling appliances at home. Overall it improves the quality of life of the disabled. The arm can perform certain predefined tasks or it can even be controlled through a mobile app. Commands corresponding to different actions or movements are received by the Arduino through the Bluetooth connection established between the smartphone and Arduino. The operation of the arm will be concise and intuitive. The proposed arm is a step closer to the creation of a society where technology aids the less fortunate with a way to the independent life they desire. The work proposed strive to create a change in the lives of disabled community to achieve improved mobility and option in the future.
