We deal with the flight control problem of a passenger aircraft encountering windshear during the landing process. First, we give a detailed description of the genetic programming (GP), which plays a key role in constructing robust flight controllers against windshear. Then, based on this GP, we propose a new design method, demonstrating its effectiveness through some numerical examples. Finally, we attack the landing-in-windshear problem by applying the proposed design method to this problem. Simulation is carried out with the parameters of the Boeing-727 type aircraft. No matter how strong the windshear is, the resulting robust controller shows good performance.
