Despite the advances in the development and certification of binary code for high criticality environments, these are not yet transposable to the systems configuration development domain. From spreadsheets to scripts, many tools are used in a sometimes unstructured development process for configuration artefacts. To answer this challenge, a sophisticated IMA Development Environment (IMADE) capable of executing on widely used and accessible general purpose operating systems would be the most appropriate solution. The main purpose of the IMADE is covering the majority of issues that have been identified as needing to be addressed by industrial tools in one integrated development environment. In this way we are certain that the IMADE provides gains in the efficiency of the IMA development process, as well as reducing the development time and costs.
