We present a novel construction of a deformable mirror femtosecond pulse shaping. The performance of mirror in ultrafast pulse shaping, we used it to compress long stretched pulses. Pulses from Ti:Sapphire oscillator were propagated through 10 cm long SF11 glass, which introduced about 19000 s/sup 2/ second order group velocity dispersion. as well as non negligible higher order terms. Then the pulses were send to compressor containing mirror. An evolutionary algorithm, with two photon photodiode as a feedback signal, was used to find the best set of voltages, resulting in the shortest pulse. We were able to get close to the Fourier limited pulse in a few minutes time.
