The importance of water bodies in the Earth's landscape cannot be overstated. Contamination of water is putting our lives in jeopardy. Oil spills damage public health, pollute drinking water, deplete natural resources, and cause economic disruption. Cleaning of oil spills in water bodies is a tedious process. Various varieties of oil skimmers are available, however, they all require manual operation. The goal of this proposed methodology is to use IoT to automate an oil skimmer and design a smart system for cleaning oil spills. The Framework is made up of a Raspberry Pi 4, and various sensors such as a pH sensor, ultrasonic sensors, and MQ3 sensor and an oil skimmer. These sensors are connected to Raspberry Pi, and the sensor output is displayed on the LCD screen. When Oil is detected by the sensors, the Oil skimmer starts skimming.
