Due to the non-renewable nature of fossil energy sources, the popularity of electric vehicles has become a trend. Meanwhile, the need for battery charging is a very important part of electric vehicles (EV) promotion. In this paper, a multifunctional integrated motor-driving and onboard-charging (IMDOC) system is proposed based on a three-motor-drive EV. In the proposed system, a five-phase flux-switching permanent-magnet (FSPM) motor and two three-phase FSPM motor are employed as the front and rear driving motor respectively in the driving mode. While in the charging mode, the system can be reconfigured to provide single/three-phase AC and DC charging capabilities at varying power levels. By reasonably combining the three motors and configuring the windings, the system can solve the problems of traditional IMDOC system and meet different charging needs. The effectiveness of the proposed IMDOC system is verified by simulation.
