This report presents an extensive and detailed analysis of the generation, monitoring, and mitigation of stray currents in DC-powered urban tram systems, focusing specifically on the infrastructure and operational context of Sofia. The corrosion risks associated with stray currents significantly threaten underground metallic structures, affecting the durability, safety, and efficiency of urban transport infrastructure. This study aims to outline a comprehensive approach to understanding, identifying, and mitigating these risks.
