This paper presents a space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) utilising new zero vectors to reduce the peak of the common mode voltage (CMV) in indirect matrix converter (IMC). Presence of zero vectors raises the peak CMV 42.23%. The proposed method offers suitable switching arrangements to bring down the peak to peak common mode voltage and also offers a higher safe operating region by increasing the commutation time period. Compressed deviation in the DC Link voltage is the additional asset of this method. As compared to the already reported methods, the proposed method gives a better peak CMV, DC Link voltage deviation and safe operating region. The effectiveness of the proposed method validates through the MATLAB simulation.
