This paper deals with an isolated bridgeless power factor corrected (PFC) charger for solar photovoltaic (PV) panel installed over light electric vehicle (LEV). It intends to reduce the overall component count by performing power factor correction operation for AC input and maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for PV input in single converter. AC source works as primary input and is utilized separately as well as simultaneously with PV input working as secondary source. The bridgeless configuration is employed at the AC input to reduce the conduction losses associated with the input diodes. It is followed by a Cuk converter-based isolated DC-DC charger. The state-space technique is utilized in this paper to generate the plant transfer function of the LEV charger, which in turn is employed for proportional-integral (PI) based controller design. The small-signal model of the charger is verified by AC-sweep analysis in PSIM software. A feed-forward controller is designed to improve the power quality of the grid current in accordance with the IEC 61000-3-2 standard. Due to simplicity of operation, the perturb and observe (P&O) technique is employed here for MPPT operation. The effectiveness of the controller is validated under different dynamic operation through MATLAB simulation.
