As the demand for lightweight, high-performance, and high-reliability avionics systems increases, avionics systems using high-speed Ethernet based on ring topology and precision time synchronization protocols are emerging. However, applying the existing precision time synchronization protocol to a ring network increases clock jitter and bandwidth consumption as it must traverse all nodes in the ring, unlike mesh networks where an optimal path can be used. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose a new Stealthy Clock-based method that can reduce bandwidth and computing resource consumption, although the performance of time synchronization is almost the same as that of the existing method.
