The development of innovative power systems for Electric Vehicles (EV) and charging stations needs discrete high-performance components and power modules. The use of new silicon developments and composite materials, Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN), responds to the need by increasing the efficiency of the whole platform. This paper provides a power semiconductor technology overview with reference to key applications that are getting benefits from them.
