Tins research study presents a reconfigurable power converter with grid-to-vehicle (G2V) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) power transfer capabilities for electric vehicle (EV) application. To accomplish G2V and V2G tasks, the proposed reconfigurable converter comprises of four active switches, four relays, and a few passive filter components. In G2V mode, the converter charges the EV battery and performs power factor correction operation. During rectification it operates in discontinuous inductor current mode to minimize control complexity. While in V2G mode, the converter functions as a three-level inverter, feeding battery energy to the grid. In order to provide improved power quality operation, the converter uses a single loop current control method in V2G mode. In order to verify the proposed reconfigurable converter, the MATLAB simulation results have been given in addition to the topological analysis.
