To address the steering angle tracking problem in steer-by-wire (SbW) systems, this study employs a fixed-time sliding mode control (FT-SMC) approach, which is well-suited for a variety of control applications. The proposed double-layer FT-SMC specifically targets the angle tracking challenges in SbW systems. The controller is designed to ensure that the system's state trajectory closely follows the desired trajectory. To enhance convergence during the reaching phase, a fixed-time sliding manifold is introduced, ensuring that the convergence time is independent of the initial conditions-marking a distinct advantage over conventional controllers. Simulation results confirm the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed controller.
